Kenneth Allen Olson

Memorial services for Kenneth Allen Olson, 77, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Teske officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Olson died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.

He was born July 17, 1933, in Lawrence, the son of Oscar and Mabel Stewart Olson. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School, and later served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Olson worked as an instrument technician in the biochemistry department at the University of Kansas for 43 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was an amateur radio operator and longtime member of the local amateur radio club.. He also enjoyed repairing electronic equipment.

He married Dorothy L. Goodrick on June 6, 1957, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son Eric, Phoenix; a daughter, Brenda Kappelman, Lawrence; and four grandchildren, Colin, Nolan, Derek, & Nathan Kappelman.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Winona Elsie Dingman, and a son-in-law, Clay Kappelman.

Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
