Private family services for Marvin Don Donalson, 87, Lawrence, will be at a later date. Mr. Donalson died Friday, June 10, 2011, in Lawrence. He was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Hollis, Okla., the son of Malcolm and Jewell Curry Donalson.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 and a bachelor’s degree in hospital administration from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1975.
Mr. Donalson survived the European Theatre and Palermo, Italy, in the 15th Air Corps of the 454th Bomb Squadron during World War II. He worked for Kerr’s Department Store, Callaway’s Furniture and OK Furniture & Rug Co.. He was administrator of the Baptist Retirement Center in Oklahoma City and was assistant director for the Retirement Center Ministry of Oklahoma until his retirement.
Mr. Donalson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lawrence and Oklahoma City and was a 32nd degree Mason.
He married Mildred Irma Poling on June 15, 1949, in Clovis, N.M. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, SallyDon and husband Craig Weinaug, Lawrence; a son, Robert and wife MaryBeth, Fort Worth, Texas; and nine grandchildren, Charles, RobertCarl, Amy and Clay Weinaug, Rebecca and Nathan Knight, Beth and Lee Hampton, and Jonathan Donalson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Randolph and Donald; and a sister, Myriage Donalson Wilson.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Assocation, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
