Memorial services for Lois D. Rockhold Doane, 78, Eudora, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Community Church, (11th. & Kasold, Lawrence) with the Rev. Deana Perdue officiating. A graveside interment service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mrs. Doane died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Medicalodges Eudora.
She was born Mar. 14, 1933, in Lawrence, the daughter of Howard and Edna Channel Cheney. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School, and later attended Kansas University.
Mrs. Doane was employed by Eugene Doane at the Simmons – Doane Agency, whom she later married on Dec. 25, 1971. She took over the insurance and bail bonds business when Mr. Doane’s health failed. She was a member of St. Mary’s and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kan., and of Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora, as well as a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Group. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, fishing, and her dogs.
Survivors include a son, Ed Rockhold, Lawrence; a daughter, Susan Rockhold, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Betty Ireland, Hutchinson; and four grandchildren, Scott Copp, Stephen Kelly, Ed Rockhold, and Susan Rockhold.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Medicalodges Eudora Activity Fund, in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS, 66044.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. It is never a good time and no matter how long the illness, a person is never really prepared to lose someone as near and dear as their Mom.
