Ralph Eugene Boylan

Graveside services for Ralph Eugene Boylan, 80, will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013, at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Boylan died Thursday, October 10, 2013 in Wichita surrounded by his family. He was born November 10, 1932, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Born to the son of Calvin Nathaniel Boylan and Grace Evelyn (Gager) Boylan. Calvin died when Ralph was a young boy. Grace was blessed to remarry Clarence Alton Ramey who raised Ralph as his own son.

He attended High School in Iowa Falls then served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1953. Ralph moved to Lawrence in 1966. He worked as a printer at Lawrence Journal World until his retirement.

Survivors include a daughter Darla Rawley, Rockford, IL; from his first wife Dee, a Son, Calvin Boylan, Lawrence; daughters, Lynne Boylan, Cranston, RI; Karla Boylan, Whitewater, KS; Sharon Rayton (and husband Billy) Wichita; Pamela Kendrick, Nevada, MO; all with his wife Patricia, stepchildren, Linda Goff (& husband Butch), Perry; Ruth Vermillion and Kenneth Hess, with wife Jean, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 step grandchildren. Other survivors include one brother, Robert Ramey of Laughlin, NV; four sisters, Patricia Donnley and husband Bob of Hidden Valley Lake, CA; Darlene Libro of Sparks, NV; Marlene Achtermann and husband Vern of Lakewood, CO; and Jolene Rush and husband Dan of Iowa Fall, IA.

Friends may call from noon – 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the University of Kansas Cancer Center in care of the funeral home.

Although I haven’t seen Ralph in many years, I bowled on a team with him for many enjoyable years. He was a great teammate and friend and I send my blessings to Calvin and the rest of his family. He will be greatly missed by all.
