Mary K. (Bell) Whittington, 96, Baldwin City, died Monday, July 6, 2015, at her home. She was born April 1, 1919, on the family farm at Baldwin City. She is the daughter of Henry and Bessie Bell.
Mrs. Whittington was a hairdresser and retired after many years.
She married F. Wayne “Big Joe” Whittington on October 15, 1961. He preceded her in death.
They adopted a daughter in July of 1966. Survivors include a daughter, Kellie Jo (Irwin) Phillips, grandchildren Naomi, Thomas, and Timothy, granddaughter Katie and husband Zach, great-grandchildren Chelsea, Derekah, Serenity, Kaliah and Jazlynn all of Baldwin City, and a sister Beulah Fahey of Detroit.
Memorials may be made to the Mary Whittington Memorial Fund.
Jim Able will be a Honorary Pallbearer.
Graveside service will be 10:30 Saturday at Oak Wood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday 5:30 to 7 pm. at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
