Estell O. Johnson

Graveside services for Estell O. Johnson, 65, Lawrence, will be at 11 am Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lawrence, with the Rev. William Dulin officiating. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 28, 1949, in Lawrence, the son of Lincoln H. and Vie Della Farmer Johnson. He attended Lawrence schools.

Survivors include a sister, Renee Johnson, Lawrence, and several cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Church of God in Christ, in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.

Soooo saddened to read of Estell’s passing. I remember Estell from high school, and he was always a riot…he would always ask me about my girlfriend, and always had a huge smile and laughter for me every time I would see him..haven’t seen him for 50 years, but can still see the bright smile and the brown eyes..to his family, may you find the peace that passes all understanding, found only in Jesus Christ, and may the Lord God Almighty, bring you into His presence as you endure this hardship and this loss…Sad day in Lawrence..Gary T..

I will truly miss Estell. I have known him since the very early 1960s when his dad installed a bathroom in the house. He always made me laugh and the sale barn was the place. God bless you and your family.

I am so sadden to hear about the loss of Estell. Geez, He was my uncle an Dads best friend for all of my childhood. lived down the street from us. he was such a loving bright an caring person. he will be dearly missed by many! I have a funny to share, when I was kid, he took me to the salebarn an bought me a rabbit an we named it henry! He was alway’s bringing me pets. he caught a big oh snapping turtle one time. Estell, what you gonna do with that? We gonna boil it, an fry it up an eat it? I turtle for real? Yup they good eaten. It was too! He went on my 4th grade fishing trip for school, Had his corn soaked in what ever an was catching fish back to back, all us kids was lined up, Bait are hooks. he was such a great guy!
