Theodore Coleman ‘Jr’ ‘Ted’ Denney III

Funeral services for Theodore Coleman ‘Jr.’ ‘Ted’ Denney III, 55, Lawrence, will be at 2 pm Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory. A visitation will follow the service, and cremation will follow the visitation. Jr. died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, following a battle with cancer.

He was born Jan. 16, 1960, in Ulysses, Kan., the son of Theodore Coleman II and Alice Mae Harrison Denney. He attended schools in Greeley, Kan. Jr. worked for Douglas County in the road maintenance department from 1995-2005. He began working for the Lawrence school district last year, and was employed there at the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing, riding and working on motorcycles, constructing model cars, the outdoors, and his grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Dawn McAuliffe and husband Christopher Dye, Lawrence; a sister, Betty Jolene Ohmes and husband Tony; a brother, Jerry Duane Denney, Richmond, Kan.; an aunt, Karen Harrison, Topeka; an uncle, Leroy Denney and wife Elsie, Richmond; two grandchildren, Seth Dye and Lilith Dye; a niece, Crystal; several cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister, Sharon Irene Denney.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Jr. Denney Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
