Messages & Condolences

From Marty Schoeffter...

Paula, I am so sorry about Scott and still in disbelief. You, Scott and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!

From Lyn Mayer...

Saddened by hearing news of your passing, but smiled as I remembered being in that hole in the ground and you trying to get me out. Many, many early mornings jumping in that cold water at swim practice. Riding steel balbarring skate boards down ninth street,
Great times Scott…

From Bill Woodard...

Scott’s love of music–especially the blues–was legendary, as was his dry sense of humor, appreciation of the natural world, and deep love for Paula, the children, and his family and friends. His spirit will live on every time one of us rocks out to a great song, or cheers a Jayhawk victory, or marvels at the majesty of a Kansas sunrise. Rest well and rock on, Scott. Much love to the whole Hedges clan.

From Ray Gabel...

Scott will be missed by many people. He was good man that did a lot for organ and tissue dontation. Scott was a member of Team MO KAN and he will be honored by Team MO KAN, a group of organ and tissue recipients that compete in a Olympic style sports compatition across the country. The Team honors all donors and their family. Prayers and condolences to Scott and his family.

From Jim Bussell...

Memories of growing up as a buddy of Scott are so vivid; We first met the very first day of Kindergarten at Sunset Hill ES 52-1/2 years ago. Walking home, I saw that he lived right by the school at top of hill and we decided we would ride our red wagons down the 9th Street Hill to Pamela Lane where I lived. Over and over and over again. Later both our families moved further out from the school, ironically each time the houses about the same distance apart. Playing pool all night in his basement while spending the night, and watching scary movies on TV. Our late great Dads running our Cub Scout Webelos together and putting up with a bunch of maniacs. Always feeling welcome in his home by his parents and siblings. A wonderful friend for life, although at times we’ve gone different directions, yet still like the brother I never had. I have a heavy heart right now and will miss him dearly and sincerely.

Scott, we rocked hard and never stopped! Feel very lucky now that we had the chance to do it a last time at Amand Fish at Bottleneck. Never thought we wouldn’t do it again. You will be in my thoughts at every concert and every time I air guitar! Keep Rockin’ on the the next level. I know you will!! ?????

I am shocked saddened to hear of Scott’s passing. I saw him on a regular basis over the past 8 years be it a Class of 1977 get together, Third Fridays event, afternoons at the lake, concerts, and other social gatherings. I knew him to always have a smile, a good story, or a laugh to share with everyone. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to Paula and the entire Hedges family. May God be with you!

Sadness and disbelief are still in my heart. I am sending love, prayers and peace to you Paula, and your children. I felt honored when Scott asked me to make the Mother’s necklace for you with all your family’s names on it. I was very touched to see how much it meant to him to have it made special for you. So blessed to be able to call him my cousin, and my friend. That was my CUZ! I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to my Aunt Yvonne, Paula, Anna, Kayla, Michael, Laura, Blake and Bryan. ~~Love, Lana

From John Olmstead...

I met Scott after I starting working for his brother Bryan. He knew music like no one else and liked the Family Cabin at Lone Star Lake. His dog Buddy was a protector and liked to go to the dog park. Scott enjoyed selling commercial properties and leasing rental properties. He loved his wife and gave his children everything he could advice or helping them buy their first vehicle. I am shocked and saddened I always liked Scott’s angle on business and travel ideas.

From Wendy Wyatt Matousek...

I will never forget Scott’s infectious smile and hilarious sense of humor. His love of music and life, his love for Paula, Anna, Kayla and Michael…..his laid back attitude. His recent concern over his ageing cat really touched me. I will always remember these things about Scott. I am so sorry to all of you who loved him. He will not be forgotten. Ever.
