Mary Kathryn Husted Kufahl passed away March 17, 2018, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
Mary K. was born August 3, 1937, in Lawrence, the daughter of Clyde and Pauline Brune Husted. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1955.
Mary K. married Don L. Kufahl in 1965, he preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by two children: Kevin Kufahl, Lawrence, KS, Kathryn Poteet, Red Hook, NY; five grandchildren: Daniel Kufahl, Alyssa, Audrey, Charity, and Owen Poteet; two sisters: Barbara Muiller, Topeka, KS, and Carolyn Phillips, Lawrence, KS.
She worked as a Cosmetologist at Brandon Woods for many years. Mary K. loved to garden and make things grow. A special talent of hers was to nurture seedlings into mature plants or trees.
Memorial services for Mary Kathryn Husted Kufahl, 80, Lawrence, will be 2 pm, Friday, March 23, 2018, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 1:30 to services time on Friday.
In Lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Visiting Nurses Hospice, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
I send my sympathies to all those who knew and loved Mary. I have good memories of her as a classmate so many years ago. May you each find the peace that passes all understanding.
