From Megan B....

I didn’t know Philip well, but a dog rescue friend who remembered Keller shared the obituary with me. Keller came through CMHS then Second Chance and my home. I only met Philip once when he adopted Keller but knew he was determined to make it work. Keller stands out among the many dogs I fostered with Second Chance because of his handsome smile, very “happy” tail (which led to several surgeries), and his grand adventure when he escaped for almost a week before eventually finding his way back to us. He was a character in all that word can mean. He had so much love to give and was always happy, but along with that had spirit and energy- and the small baggage of having injured himself to the point of surgery with his tail. I wasn’t sure if the adoption would work- Philip seemed to be almost too accepting of his flaws initially when we talked. While I didn’t know Philip, I do know the type of person it takes to adopt a dog like Keller and love all of him (down to his sweet, nubby tail). That type of person is special. I’m so very sorry for your loss of someone so special. I’ve thought of Keller over the years and I’m so very happy Philip took a chance on Keller- and that it became an amazing friendship for them both. He made a huge difference for Keller.
