Services for Arlene Marie Haines, 92, of Osage City, Kansas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence, Kansas.
She passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014, at the Osage City Nursing Center.
Marie was born September, 5, 1922, in Buffalo, KS, the daughter of Arlin Leroy and Zola Annette Baird Anderson.
She married Charles Elwood “Woody” Haines on August 10, 1946 in Chanute, KS. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include three daughters and their husbands: Carol and Don Coffman, Wichita, KS; Sheila and Ron Ireland, Missoula, MT; Pattie and George Lieber, Osage City, KS; two sisters: Laurel (Metchie) Kraft; Pat and Leon Comstock, all of Lawrence, KS; four grandchildren: Bridget Ireland, Katherine and Tony Troiano, and Kevin Ireland, all of Montana, and Kurtis Lieber, Lawrence, KS; one great-granddaughter: Dempsey Troiano of Montana.
Marie was an accredited school teacher, starting with a one-room country school. She also was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed accompanying her husband, Woody, and her sister, Metchie, both violinists. Marie and Woody enjoyed traveling, and, of course, all the grandchildren. The latest addition, great-granddaughter, Dempsey, was a special delight to Marie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage City Nursing Center, sent in care of the Funeral home.
