Memorial services for Carol Joan Kiefer-Housworth, 70, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory, with the Rev. Angela Lowe officiating. Private inurnment will be later at Oak Hill Cemetery. Carol died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at her home.
She was born July 29, 1943, in St. Louis, the daughter of Harry and Helen Curtis. She graduated from McKinley High School in St. Louis. Carol worked in the insurance and medical industry for many years, most recently for Dr. Matthew Buxton. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, and enjoyed Bingo, her dog Sugar, and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She married Dary H. Housworth on June 17, 1995. He preceded her in death in 2011, as did three sisters, Dorothy Barrett, Joyce Curtis, and Phyllis Curtis. Survivors include three daughters, Paula Greco and husband Don, and Cheryl Arnold and husband Bruce, all of Lawrence, and Dani Hulings and husband Nate, Meriden; two brothers, Johnny Curtis, St. Louis, and David Curtis, Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister, Pat Laux, St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Sarah Peters and husband Sonny, Lawrence; eight grandchildren, Laticia VanNatta, Dustin Davis, Jennifer Butler, Donald Greco, Joe Greco, Larry Tuthill, and Darian and William Housworth; and 15 great grandchildren.
