David was born to Roosevelt Williams and Mozella Williams on January 10th, 1962 in Sunflower, Mississippi. He attended Lincoln and Westport Senior High in Kansas City, while living a life of hard work at a young age, the best he knew how, finding odd jobs while caring for his siblings too. He was able to find employment in fast food services and in maintenance job positions with leadership roles and always communicated well.
In 1998 David relocated from Kansas City, MO to Lawrence, KS where he met Lucille in 1999 and married in 2010. David maintained a stable work life in Lawrence for over 25 years, with a personal ambition to maintain family ties and bring laughter and smiles to those around him.
David is survived by three brothers and two sisters. Roosevelt Baskin, Alvis Williams, Sylvester Stewart, Mary Johnson, and Barbara Wesley all of Kansas City, MO. Survived by six children: David Stewart Jr, Natasha Hewitt, Desmond Stewart, Lanita Stewart, Sabrina Brown, Reneka Stewart, and one stepson, Jerrid Cadue.
Many grandchildren David, Day’esha, Darrion, Mini, Maurice, Jamia, Vyctoria, Antonio, Jalisa, Juliana, Amelia, Micah, Zayden, Isabella and Madeleine and several great great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Three uncles on mothers side and aunty Darlene Higgs.
David was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Doris Steward, and two brothers, Larry Stewart and Steven Williams.
We all have experienced David’s frankness and uncomplicated talk, while at the same time demonstrating he was a loving and caring person. He will be missed and he was loved by many. Let’s keep him in our thoughts in good memories as we all move forward in our lives.
