Diana Darlene Bissell, 69, Lawrence died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at The Windsor of Lawrence. Services will be private.
She was born January 20, 1950, in Lawrence, the daughter of Harold Eugene and Esther Rebecca Crumet Gulley. She graduated from Lawrence High School and then from the University of Kansas.
Mrs. Bissell worked as an elementary school teacher. She taught in Australia, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Rangeley, Colorado. She retired from teaching but took a job as a teacher’s aide in Vernal, Utah before moving back to Lawrence in 2010.
She enjoyed painting, reading, listening to music, watching movies, and being a caregiver for her parents. She was an animal lover and was very fond of her doggies.
She married Charles Ray Bissell in 1984. He died in 2007.
Survivors include a son, Travis Bissell of Lawrence; brother, Larry J. Gulley and wife Toni of Lafayette, Tennessee; sister, Jennifer J. Nelson and husband Chuck of Baldwin City; and nephew, Eli Nelson of Ottawa, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Visiting Nurses, sent in care of the funeral home.
