Funeral services for Doris I. Nottingham, 86, rural Lawrence, will be 10 am Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Tom Brady will officiate. She died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Lawrence, the daughter of Ward E. and Edith M. Oehlert Landis.
Mrs. Nottingham was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1948, United Methodist Women, Sunny Valley E.H.U. since January of 1948, and held several offices, Douglas County Farm Bureau, a 4-H Leader for many years, 4-H improvement leader, worked for 50 years on the Sarcoxie Election Board and was the supervising judge for 40 years. She was recognized by the State of Kansas for her many years with the Election Board.
She married Everett L. Nottingham on Oct. 19, 1947. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2009. They lived on the family farm their entire married life and Doris lived there for 68 years. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale A. Nottingham and a brother, Donald L. Landis.
Survivors include sons Lyle D. and wife Cortnee of Paris, TX., David L. and wife Jeanne of Lawrence; daughter-in-law Linda Nottingham of Sharpsville, IN.; grandchildren Gatz, Scott, Jack, Paige, Braxton, Conner, Paris, and Mylee; great-grandchildren Jackson, Tyler, Brooklynn, Kenzi, Alexia, Adaleigh, Lane, and Ella.
Friends may call Tuesday 9 am to 8 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends from 6 to 8:00pm.
