James W. “Jim” Vincent

Memorial services for James W. “Jim” Vincent, 75, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Vincent officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

 Mr. Vincent died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.

 He was born May 11, 1935, in Lawrence, the son of John and Frances Smith Cole.  At age 16, he was adopted by his stepfather, V. Jack Vincent.

 Mr. Vincent lived most of his life in Lawrence, and was involved in a variety of ventures and touched many lives over the years.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

 He married Elizabeth A. “Betty” Allen on May 24, 1959, in Lawrence.  She survives of the home.

 Other survivors include two sons, J. Warren Vincent and wife Virginia, McKinney, Tex., and the Rev. Dr. Michael Vincent and wife Kathryn, Norfolk, Neb.; a brother, Charles “Bud” Vincent, Baldwin City; a stepsister, Sally Burgess, Seal Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Jim, Bill, Abbie, Sam, and Debbie Vincent.

 The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

 Memorials in memory of Mr. Vincent can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
