Services were held for James Cary Brown, Jr, 55, Sat, October 24, 2015 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A Memorial Stone will be placed at Toronto Township Cemetery, Toronto, KS, where his daughters’ family that has preceded in passing are at rest.
Friends and family called him Jim, and he left us to join his creator on Oct 16, 2015. He was loved by many, and will be missed many times more.
He was born February 1, 1960, in Bellflower, CA, the son of James and Mary Brown. He attended school in CA until the age of 11, at which time he moved to Arlington, TX with his father, step mother and 2 sisters, Pam Leary, of Arlington, TX and Cyndi Smith, of Grand Rapids, MI. His mother, Mary and husband, John Sexton moved to Arlington, TX as well, and Jim continued on to Sam Houston High School in Arlington, graduating in 1978.
He was known as a kind and generous soul, and was loved by many. His smile and presence could light up a room, and was a source of encouragement for many, for that he will always be remembered.
He married Lenora Reynard on Jan 14, 1993 in Ft Worth, TX. That union was blessed with a daughter, Siera Naomi, born Nov 3, 1993, and a stepdaughter, Audra Dawn, born Aug 16, 1987. They all survive of the home. They moved to Lawrence in 2000, where Jim was employed at E & E Display Group until it closed, after the closure, he worked as a free lance painter for the rest of his time here in Lawrence.
Other survivors include a sister, Pam Leary, Arlington, TX, another sister, Cyndi Smith, of Grand Rapids, MI. A younger brother Gerald Sexton, Yucca, CA, and a younger sister, Caryn Brown O’Brien of Tuscon, AZ
He was preceded in death by his father, James Cary Brown in 1987, and his mother Mary Brown Sexton in 2012.
