Lois Plank Capps

Memorial services for Lois Emelia Plank Capps, 92, Lawrence, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2104 Bob Billings Parkway. Inurnment will be in Pioneer Cemetery.

Lois peacefully passed into eternal life with her Lord after a short stay at The University of Kansas Medical Center on August 28, 2024. Lois was born on November 13, 1931 in Cream, Wisconsin.

She married Lelon Roger Capps on June 5, 1954. Lois graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a degree in Education. She later earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Kansas. Lois founded Montessori Children’s House on University Drive in Lawrence. Additionally, Lois was essential in operating the Capps Family business for over 50 years.

Lois was a strong woman who touched the lives of many people. She believed everyone had the capacity to do great things, always encouraged everyone to be the best version of themselves and will be remembered for her devotion to family and education.

Lois is survived by her children, Karlin (Michelle Miller) Capps and Kandis (Timothy) Taylor; grandchildren, Emily (William) Moorkamp, Kristiana Capps, Laura Taylor, and Shirin (David) Gulledge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lelon Capps; and parents, Richard and Emelia Plank.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service which will include a lunch.
