Shirley Rae Perdue

 

Shirley Perdue died Jan. 17, 2018, one day after her birthday. She was residing at Winchester Senior Care Center in Winchester, KS.

On Jan. 16, 1933 she was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Lila & John (Johnny) Miller.

Her family moved to Lawrence when she was a child. As an adult, she worked many years with Southwestern Bell in Lawrence, and then Topeka until she retired.

She and her husband, George, moved to Perry, KS. in the 1970’s and bought a 1880’s farmhouse with acreage. They completely renovated. It was well known by the locals, as it overlooked what was known as “Dead Man’s Curve”. They both loved caring for their pets and farm animals after retirement and the peacefulness of the countryside.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, George Burton Perdue.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Sailer and husband Bill of Dallas, TX; son, Jim Perdue of Oskaloosa, KS; two grandchildren & four great-grandchildren.

A private internment will take place at a later date.
