A Celebration of Life for Wanda Hardister Burnett Cox, 76, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 pm Thursday at the Union Pacific Depot in North Lawrence.
Wanda died of cancer on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at her home.
Wanda was born June 17, 1941, in Columbia, Mo., the daughter of John Hardister and Violet Morrison. John and Violet were divorced when Wanda was a small child, and John married Addene Hinchman. Wanda attended Lawrence High School.
She married Charles Burnett in St. Joseph, Mo., and they had three children: Vicki Burnett, Dena Ward, and Charles Burnett. Her husband Charles was killed in the Vietnam War. She married David Reed, and they had one child, Jon Reed. They divorced, and she married Brian Cox. They later divorced.
Wanda is survived by children Vicki Burnett, Topeka; Dena and Dan Ward, Arkansas City; Charles and Kathy Burnett, Boaz, Ala.; Jon Reed, Oskaloosa; sister Beverly Lasswell, Lenexa; sister and brother in law, Donna and Jerry Avey, Longmont, Colo.; aunt Patty Allen, St. Joseph, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Wanda enjoyed reading the Bible, crocheting, knitting, needlework, puzzles, painting, using her computer, and all kinds of games.
