Funeral services for Wanda Porter Ottens Vickery, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10 am Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Porter officiating. The casket will remain closed. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery. Wanda died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
She was born Dec. 17, 1940, in rural Baldwin City, the daughter of Floyd Gerald and Naomi Rosa Caruthers Porter. She graduated from DeSoto High School, and later attended trade school. Wanda worked as an x-ray technician at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and at Stormont-Vail in Topeka. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and watching KU basketball games.
Survivors include two sons, Lance Vickery and wife Shannon, Olathe, and Michael Ottens and wife Nancy, Bend, Ore.; two brothers, Bill Porter, and Bob Porter and wife Erma, all of Lawrence; and five grandchildren, Jordan, Sean, Cassie, Bryan, and Peter Vickery. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jim, Butch, and Charles Porter.
The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Boy Scout Troop 86 of Olathe, or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
