Charles David Reno

Graveside services with military honors for Charles David Reno, 71, Linwood, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, with Pastor Joe Igla officiating.

Mr. Reno died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 18, 1939, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Charley N. and Helen Walker Reno. He attended Shawnee Mission North High School. He later served in the United States Marine Corps in Japan and the Philippines.

Mr. Reno was employed by the United States Postal Service in Shawnee Mission, and retired in 1992 after 35 years of service. He attended Linwood Baptist Church, and was a Ham Radio operator. He loved his family.

He married Mary (Kathy) Holmes on Apr. 23, 1977 in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three children, Hugh Reno, Linwood, Joshua Reno, Overland Park, and Deanna Hanson, Fairway; a sister, Sharon Lydick, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Lindsey, and Kelsey; and one great grandchild, Emiliano.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Linwood Baptist Church, or Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.), in care of the funeral home, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
