Funeral services for Edith Iona Wilson, 91, Lawrence will be at 1pm. Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, burial will follow at the Buster Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at her home.
She was born July 21, 1919 at Hoyt, KS, the daughter of Dave Walter and Orpha May Thomson Blevins.
She owned and operated Edith’s Place in downtown Lawrence in the 60’s and 70’s, after it closed she went to work at Johnny’s for over 20 years retiring in 2001. She enjoyed garage sales and her family.
She was a member of the VFW and Eagles Lodge, Lawrence.
She is preceded in death by a son, David E. Beers in 1997, grandson Casey Anzek in 2008, brothers George, Jim, Harold Blevins and a sister Clara Schlick.
She is survived by two sons, Ernest Allen Beers, Lawrence, Thomas “Tom” Wilson, Perry, a Daughter, Sandra J. Anzek, Lawrence, a Brother, Bob Blevins, AR., 14 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Douglas County VNA, Rehabilitation and Hospice in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana, Lawrence, KS 66044.
Friends may call until service time at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
I cannot tell you how sorry I am for the lost of your mom. Your mom was the best. she will be missed by many. So sorry Jo, Debi……………….
