Norma was born on January 30, 1947 in Macomb, IL to Howard Elston and Violet Carter; she was the oldest of seven children. Norma along with her family moved to Lawrence, KS in 1962 where she attended Lecompton schools and received her GED in 1986. In 1987 Norma moved to Kansas City, MO where she met the love of her life, Orville Cameron who survives of the home. Norma worked for the Yellow Cab Company for many, many years back in her younger days. Norma enjoyed many things, but nothing more than family. She was the rock of the family (some like to call her the mother hen!). She also enjoyed attending state fairs, staying in a cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks, auctions, yard sales, and meeting new people. She had a passion for crossword scratch tickets, even though they didn’t feel the same about her! In 1985 Norma decided to enter the Douglas County Demolition Derby and won her heat race! This was a highlight for her because she attended that derby every year till the year of her passing.
Survivors include her Husband at heart and best friend of 24 years, Orville Cameron. Two daughters, Tammy Archuleta and her husband Morris and Nancy Kelch both from Lawrence, KS. 3 grandchildren Kristy, Steven, Joseph. Three sisters, Debbie Kelley and her husband Craig Springer of Lawrence, KS, Glenna Holst of Kansas City, MO and Pam Harkness of Osawatomie, KS. Three brothers, Lanny Elston and his wife Sally of Lawrenceville, GA, Bill Elston and his wife Terry of Pamona, KS and Rick Elston and his wife Eleda of Topeka, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents Franklin “Speedy” and Violet Dressler, her father Howard Elston, her brother Rex Elston and a step-brother Butch Dressler. She was loved by several aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews.
