Private graveside services for William A. Wilson, 87, rural Overbrook, were held at Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Mo.
Mr. Wilson died Friday, July 29, 2011, of old age at his home. He was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Arthur, Mo., the son of Earl and Emma Marie Vogt Wilson.
Mr. Wilson served in U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged. He served with the 48th Squadron, 313 Troop Carriers.
After the service, he went to work for U.S. Postal Service and retired after 30 years of service.
He married Mary Margaret Liles. She preceded him in death.
They had six sons: Lynn Wilson and infant son Jackie who preceded them in death, Bill Wilson and wife Cheryl, Vinland, Ron Wilson and wife Cassie, Whitewright, Texas, Larry Wilson and wife LaDonna, Worden, and Bob Wilson and wife Teresa, Jefferson City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home and Crematory, 601 Ind., Lawrence, KS 66044.
I worked with Bill at the USPS facility in Pauline, Ks. He was a kind and wonderful gentleman. I’m sure he will be missed and will be remembered forever by his coworkers.
