Betty A. Logan-Jones

Funeral services for Betty A. Logan-Jones, 72, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Delmar A. White officiating. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mrs. Logan-Jones died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at her home in Topeka.

She was born August 2, 1939, in Lawrence, the daughter of Ernest and Aurora DeMoss Logan.

She attended Lawrence public schools and in 1972 received her L.P.N. in Nursing from Weber State, Utah. She worked for Veterans Administration Hospitals in Utah, Philadelphia, and retired from Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Medical Center in Topeka after more than 30 years. She had also worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for several years.

She married Thomas A. Jones. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ernest Logan Jr., and a sister, Edna Rice.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl A. and husband Myron Thomas of Chicago, sister Janice L. Logan-Armstrong of Topeka, 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, uncles, Sam and wife Carrie Logan of Lawrence, Robert and wife Elaine Logan of Moreno Valley, CA, Leroy and wife Mazie Logan of San Diego, CA, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
