Mr. Farrier died Friday, January 13, 2012, at his home, from complications of a stroke he had in June.

He was born December 31, 1923, in Seneca, MO, the son of James & Gertrude Nutting Farrier.

David served in the US Army during peace time. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar. His educational background included Kansas Peace Officers Training School in Traffic, Kansas Peace Officers Training School for Peace Officers, and completed an Engineering course at Ft. Dave was proud of this accomplishment, receiving a B after one and a half days of testing. He was Legion of Honor in the NAT’L Rifle Association. David was also a member of the Cedar Hill Gun Club and NAT’L Sheriffs Association & Wasatch Gun club in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ and also attended Lawrence Wesleyan Church since 1994.

David was employed by the University of Utah as Assistant Director of Transportation and bus driver, and also worked for Kansas University as a police officer and bus driver. Later he was an over the road truck driver for Stokely-Van Camp and the Lawrence Paper Company; he retired March 1, 1992.

He married Donna Workman on January 27, 1951 in Cheyenne, WY. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Reuben, three sisters: Maxine, Dorothy, Geraldine and a half sister, Violet.

Other survivors include a son, Eric & his wife Jacki, of Lawrence; a grandson Matthew, of Lawrence; one brother, Fred, of McPherson, KS; a sister, Nadine Hadl of Pleasant Hill, MO; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Wesleyan Church, Douglas County Hospice, or Trinity In-Home Care, in care of the funeral home.
