Funeral services for Leonard Sharon Sr., 74, Garnett, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Koberlein officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Sharon died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Sept. 9, 1937, the son of Lawrence and Hattie Sharon.
Mr. Sharon was a farmer and worked in the salvage business. He enjoyed fishing and his dogs.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Sharon and wife Charlene, Lawrence, Leonard Sharon Jr. and wife Joyce, Fontana, and David Sharon, Lecompton; three daughters, Terry Sharon, Fort Smith, Ark., and Sandy Sharon and Marjorie Sharon, both of Lawrence; a brother, Clarence Sharon, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Pauline Brunski and husband Tony, Kansas City, Kan.; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Paul.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Leonard Sharon Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
