My condolences to the extended Tolbert family. Sherman always had a big smile and a big personality. He gave alot and I am sure he will be missed a great deal. We shared many good times growing up in Lawrence. I had not seen Sherman for years and ran into him at a hotel in Wichita, about 30 miles from where I now live. He was easy to recognize and we had a wonderful visit. He touched the hearts of many people and I am sure influenced many lives. He will be missed but always remembered with a smile on my face and that of many others. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

So sorry to hear that Sherman passed, although I know that he immediately challenged every angel to a chess match. My heart goes out to his family and friends. What a vibrant personality! That smile that went from ear to ear…was so contagious. He shared wisdom born of hard experience, but the mark of a truly great soul, is the ability to take the mistakes and hard times and use them to help others…that was Sherman. I will remember that always, along with his love of music and laughter…and a particular time when we stood in the middle of the street and danced to the music of The Emotions…a song called Flowers…”let that music flow over you and me..all over the world” that music is the love of God…something Sherman knows very very well. Godspeed my friend.

From Tonia...

My condolences to the Tolbert Family. To loose a loved one in death is never easy and death is an enemy that leaves a heart of pain and emptiness. However the Almighty God made provisions to undo the suffering, sickness, pains and to do away with death forever. Jesus Christ showed his power, care and love for mankind when he was on the earth. Very soon the fulfillment of God’s word will be realized, and all those asleep in death will be awaken to a life of perfect peace on a perfect paradise earth(John 5:28&29- those in the memorial tombs will hear the voice of his son Jesus and come out; Isaiah 25:8 – Jehovah God will swallow up death forever; Psalms 37:10,11&29- the meek and righteous one will possess the earth and live forever upon it). I hope these scriptures and wonderful promise from God brings you much comfort during this difficult time. Revelation 21:4-Gods promise that death will soon be no more.
