Evelyn M. Grammer

Funeral services for Evelyn Maxine Grammer, 80, Lawrence, will be at 2 pm Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Giffin officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Evelyn passed away Mon., June 9, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

 She was born Feb. 24, 1934, in Burlington, Kan., the daughter of Albert R. and Helen M. Hyson Mark. She attended Liberty Memorial High School. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with family.

 She married Alfred Orin Grammer on June 24, 1951, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Mark, and a sister, Marcia Louise Mark. Survivors include four sons, Roger and wife Donna, Topeka, Tracy and wife Kelley, Tecumseh, Terry and wife Karen, Basehor, and Steven and wife Rebecca, Baldwin City; a daughter, Linda Wiggins and husband Roger, Lawrence; a brother Roy Mark and wife Cathi, Inola, Okla.; a half-brother, Jeffrey Shores; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7-8 pm. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
