Bonnie Jean Lawyer

Services for Bonnie Jean Lawyer, 84, Topeka, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, Kansas. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lawyer died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born May 24, 1930, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of Jake and Thelma Moore Vanek. She graduated from Concordia High School.

Mrs. Lawyer was a homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, crafting, sewing, and country music. She adored animals and was famous for her homemade baked beans.

She married John D. Lawyer in November of 1949. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Survivors include a son John Dewayne Lawyer, Jr. and wife Irene of Topeka; two daughters, Vicky Viner and husband Phillip of Shawnee, and Christy Osborn of Missouri; a sister, Willa Dean Hebert of Concordia; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
