A memorial service for Colin Trey Bennett, 21, Tonganoxie, will be 5 pm Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Christian Church in Tonganoxie, KS.
He died Feb. 19, 2015, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Colin was born Dec. 26, 1993, in Overland Park, KS, the son of Doug and Tammy Nokes Bennett. He graduated from Tonganoxie High School in May of 2012.
Mr. Bennett was currently employed at KC Installers, where he loved giving everyone he worked with a hard time. He had also worked within the Tonganoxie community, where he enjoyed helping others. There were many outside activities he enjoyed, including fishing, four wheeling and just about anything that kept him outside. Colin loved to spend time with his family and friends, and always had to be doing something. We will always remember his infectious smile and his loving and caring personality.
Colin is survived by his parents, Doug and Tammy; a brother Ryan (Tia and niece Sage); two sisters Colby (Jeremy) and Marisa; his Geemaw Mahlene Nokes; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.
He is preceded in death by his grandpa, Orval Nokes, whom he missed dearly, grandma Jan Bennett and grandpa Pete Bennett.
Family will receive guests at the Christian Church in Tonganoxie from 3 pm until service time Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colin Trey Bennett Memorial Fund, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St. Lawrence, KS 66044.
Doug, Tammy and family. We are so sorry for your loss. I will always remember how nice and polite Colin was to me, sacking my groceries. That really stood out to me. You did an awesome job raising such a hard-working and respectable young man. All of your kids, for that matter. I hope you’ll find comfort in knowing you’ll see Colin again, one day. May God’s peace and comfort surround you during this difficult time, and always.
So sorry to hear about Colin. Our prayer is that your broken hearts will mend and that our Lord Jesus Christ will wrap his loving arms around you and your family and comfort you.
My family & I want you all to know you’re in our thoughts & prayers. We send our condolences. May the Lord wrap his arms around your family today & all days ahead.
Doug and Tammy. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

There is nothing I can do to take away the pain, but you are in my thoughts every day!
However it’s not the years in your life that matter.
“It’s the life in your years that make the difference !”
And we will miss him!
Always, Jerry & Jeanne Lovell
My deepest condolences to the Bennett family, may you find comfort in knowing God holds our dear loved ones in his memory and longs for the day to reunite us with them (Acts 25:15). Also promises to do away with sickness and death by means of his Kingdom (Revelation 21:4) May you find strength and comfort through the support of your family and friends during this difficult time.
