Norma “June” Allis

Funeral services for June Allis, 90 Baldwin, will be 11 am Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, KS. She died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at her home in Baldwin.
June was born June 16, 1925, near Vinland, Kansas to Estel and Ada Moore. She attended several grade schools around the Baldwin area and finished up at Baldwin High School. She only went three years to High School because her father became ill and she needed to help her mother with the farm work. She and her mother had a very stubborn team of mules to farm with and they didn’t cooperate too well. She worked for the Cook Cleaners for 17 years. June married Cecil Puckett and Earl Davault, both died of cancer. In 1968 she married Donald Allis and lived in Baldwin until 1979 when they finished building their new house on the farm. June worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers Coop Association for 23 years before retiring. She is survived by her husband, one son, Michael Puckett, two daughters, Marilyn Nieder and Janice Harral, a step-son Michael Allis, step-daughter, Charlotte Newkirk, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She enjoyed her home, flowers and grandchildren when they needed her. She lived and passed away about four miles from where she was born. June always laughed and said she didn’t get far in this world.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, from 3 – 8 PM, and from 9 – 8 Monday, where the family will receive them from 6- 7:30 PM.
