Funeral service for Tommy Jackson, Jr., 63, Lawrence, will be 2 pm Friday July 31, 2015, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
He departed this life on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
Tommy was born September 21, 1951, in Percy, MS, the son of Tommy Jackson Sr. and Earnestine Green Jackson. He graduated from Simmons High School in 1969 and moved from Hollandale, MS to Lawrence.
He was employed as a truck driver for the City of Lawrence Public Works. He was a member of First Regular Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Jackson married Patricia Ann Dougan on July 30, 1989, in the gazebo at South Park in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include six children, Ephrance (Angela) Steele, Overland Park, Yvonne (Tyrone) Thompson, Ashley Woods, Sarah (Zane) Moukaddam, John Jackson, and Kayle (Anthony) Arnold, all of Lawrence, two brothers, Lawrence (Shirley) Jackson, Kalamazoo, MI, Robert Edwards, Canton, OH, five sisters, Mildred (George) Bethany, Sacramento, CA, Gloria Carr, Portage, MI, Lillie (Dyrel)Walton, Alice Jones, and Nellie (Terry)Moore, all of Hollandale, MS, ten grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a brother, Prentis Jackson, Chicago, IL, and a sister, Lillie Bell Carter, West Palm Beach, FL. Also, he was preceded by the loss of the Moukaddam twins, who will be laid to rest with their Papa.
Friends may call from noon to 8 pm Thursday, where the family will receive them from 6-7 pm.

Hey Dad, just wanted to let you know that there is not a day I don’t think about you. I wake up in the morning talking to you, throughout the day I talk to you and always before I go to bed. You will truly and forever be missed dad. I love you to the ends of the earth and back, “I hope you know that” like you would tell us. I’m thankful dad for having such a wonderful man/father in my life that taught me a lot of things and was always there for me. “I got cha back” like you always said. I miss your big smile and the phrases you always used. Dad, the memories we share are relentless and will always and forever remain in my heart and mind. Your grandbabies miss you like crazy and I will also make sure they remember you always. We all got each others backs dad like you always told us we should, mom will be fine I’ll make sure of it. I want send to my thoughts out to his son Duran. I use to baby sit for him and Jennifer was they were very little.I consider them and their mother Virginia my extra family. God be with u and keep u. He is in God’s army now!!

Dad, this doesn’t even seem real. I’ll miss you so much. Thank you for raising such good kids and turning your son’s into men. The greatest gift I received was you welcoming me into your home, letting me marry your son and treating me like your own daughter from day 1. You showed me what “real family love” is and I’ll always love you for that. Your son is missing you deeply but I know he finds comfort knowing you’re watching over him and the family. Take care Dad…missed but never forgotten.
Hey Dad! You’ve only been gone a few days but i miss you so much already. You taught me how to be Strong and how to be a Man along with a host of other key learning points. I can only hope that i can be as good of a father in raising my son “RanRan” as you were with me. Dad, I Love You……

I met Tommy through my friend Jeannette and he was smiling. The day my dad married Tommy and Patricia at South Park; Tommy was smiling. Most days at work, Tommy was smiling. The world needs more smiling people like Tommy. Sorry for your loss and may the memories of his smile and God’s love comfort you.
