Margaret Ann Thum McNiel died peacefully at her home in Lawrence, KS on September 23, 2015 at age 60.
Margaret was born on October 6, 1954 in Atchison, KS. Margaret loved sharing laughs with family and friends, golfing with her husband Dennis, and rooting for KU sports (even football). Up until just a few years ago, her weekly schedule of activities included badminton, volleyball, rowing, softball. THEN, if time and weather permitted, a routine beating of her betrothed on the golf course.
Margaret is survived by her devoted husband Dennis McNiel; children Abby Johnson (Tony) and Andrew Rosdahl; mother Mary Jane Thum; sisters Mary Thum (Tony Bonanno), Ellie Folsom (Rick), and Kit Modrcin (David Toney); grandchildren Carys and Mirabel Johnson; step-children Kristen McFarren (Steve) and Jeff McNiel; step-grandchildren Sophie and Morgan McFarren; and many other family and friends that will miss her humor and kindness. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Thum.
A private service is planned for immediate family. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held later this fall – details forthcoming.
