Graveside services for Johnny O. Nichols will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm in Tonganoxie, Kansas at Hubbel Hill Cemetery.
John Nichols, 62, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Medicalodges in Eudora, Kansas.
John was born on July 29, 1953, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of James Oliver Nichols and Alveena Rosemary Mooney. He lived in Lawrence, Kansas until he was 2 and then moved to Missouri. He proudly served in the United States Army returning to Lawrence, Kansas after his service was complete. He worked for the City of Lawrence for 18 years and then for Dahlsten Trucking Company for several years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
John married Betty Darlene Carr on September 28, 1982 in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives the home.
Other survivors include John’s mother, Aleevna Nussbaum of Union, Missouri; a son, Christofer Lee Carr of Lawrence, Kansas; a daughter, Tammy Lynn Strong and her husband, Scott, of Olathe, Kansas; a daughter, Sue Ann Snodgrass (Nichols) of Missouri; a son, Jacob Snodgrass of Missouri; a sister, Jauneita Carol Nickelson and her husband, Gerald, of Union, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends.
John is preceded in death by his father, James Oliver Nichols and his brother, James Edward Nichols.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Hospice or Cancer Research, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence, Kansas, 66044.
