Funeral services for Miriam L. Spray, 91, Lawrence, will be 11 am Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A visitation will take place from 10 am to service time. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Miriam was born June 2, 1924, in Topeka, the daughter of Chris and Rose Nuffer Kraft. She lived her early life in the Stull community where her father owned and operated the Kraft Mercantile Store and a farm implement business. In 1940 Miriam moved with her parents to Lawrence. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1942. There she met Carl Spray and they were married October 3, 1942, for 69 years. Carl preceded her in death January 31, 2012.
At the time of World War II Miriam was employed at Robert’s Jewelry Store (now Kizer-Cummins Jewelry Store). After her two sons were grown she took a job at the Medical Arts Building where she worked in medical records.
Miriam did volunteer work with the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and also volunteered for LINK. For many years she belonged to the Twice a Month Coffee Group. She was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Duane (Sonny) Kraft. Her survivors include two sons, Gary and wife Kate Gillispie, Topeka, KS, Larry and wife Tammy, Lawrence; grandsons, Jason and wife Sarah, Lawrence, Justin and wife Tuesday, Parkville, MO, Eric, Madison, WI, Corbin and fiancée Kristyn Morris, Topeka; great grandchildren, Freeman, Ellis, Gabriel, Vivienne, and Harlow; sister-in-law Midge Kraft, Lawrence; two nephews Norman Kraft, Overland Park, Roger Kraft, Sedona, AZ.
She will lie in state Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurses or the Salvation Army, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street Lawrence, KS 66044.

Love and warmth to Mim’s family. Jack, my therapy dog, miss her immensely. So glad to have gotten to know Mim over the last 4 years. She has been a blessing to us. May God’s peace fill you at the sad time. With great fondness, Julia and Jack.

parents,Virginia and Harry Kreider. Now they are all together again.
