Clara Belle Garrett

Services for Clara Belle Garrett, 87, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ninth Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Garrett died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at her home.

She was born February 10, 1929, in Douglas County, the daughter of Robert Otis and Josephine Margaret Kiser Dulin. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School and has lived in the area all of her life.

Mrs. Garrett worked as a chef, most recently at the University of Kansas Student Union. She enjoyed reading her bible, cooking, and visiting with family and friends.

She married John Steve Garrett on October 3, 1948, in Lawrence. He died in 2001.

Survivors include children, Sondra Garrett of Lawrence, John Garrett of Lawrence, Phillip Garrett of Topeka, Debra Garrett of Lawrence, Rose Garrett of Lawrence, Michael Garrett and wife Jean of Wichita, and James Garrett of Lawrence; brothers, Rev. Robert Otis Dulin Jr. and wife Alruthus of Detroit, MI, Rev. William Dulin and wife Pauline of Lawrence; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

A daughter, Cheryl Garrett preceded her in death in 2011.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ninth Street Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Clara Garrett Memorial Fund, sent in care of the funeral home.
