Services for Betty A. Reid, 75, DeSoto, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Reid died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her home.
She was born September 7, 1941, in Ottawa, the daughter of Russell and Juanita Griffin Collins.
Mrs. Reid worked for Kinedyne and Daisies as an assembly worker. She enjoyed playing solitaire, “Squish the Ant”, and watching NCIS and Law and Order. She raised 6 children mostly by herself.
She married Charles Place, he died in 1971. She married Sparlin Reid, and he died in 1990.
Survivors include children, Sheryl Stottlemire and husband Dennis of Olathe, Lori Maberry and husband Bill of Lawrence, David Place of Lawrence, Nita Osburn and husband Jimmy of Lawrence, Cindy Place and husband Joe Kleuenstein; a sister, Joyce Crenshaw of Lawrence; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Dane Place; and brothers, Leonard Collins, Nicky Collins, and Eddie Collins.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
