
Funeral services for Pamela Ann Herzog, 66, Lawrence, will be at 1 pm Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pamela passed away November 14, 2016, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born January 13, 1950, in Lawrence, the daughter of William J. and Nancy E. (Ray) Bosze. After the death of Nancy, Pamela’s father married Betty J. Spaulding in 1961.
Pamela graduated from Lawrence High School in 1968. She married Charles W. Oakes, they divorced in 1979. She worked at the University of Kansas Printing services for 20 years.
Pamela enjoyed playing canasta, bingo and scrabble with her friends at Babcock, singing karaoke, watching KU basketball, visiting with friends and neighbors, and spending time with family.
Survivors include three daughters, Sheila Herzog of Kansas City, KS; Shelly Rodriguez and husband, Sam, of Lawrence; Lisa Burton and husband Lawrence Jr., of Lawrence; one step daughter, Robyn Herzog of Lawrence; two sisters, Connie Spitz of Lawrence; and Joan Gish and husband Bob of Eureka, CA; a brother, Jim Rainwater of Collinsville, OK; a step sister, Jane Landmark and husband Victor Heffner of Lawrence; a step brother, Jerry Avey and wife Donna of Longmont, CO; 12 grandchildren and one great grandson, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pamela was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy, who lost her battle to cancer in 1961. Her father, William in 2010, and her step mother Betty, in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her brother in law, Owen Spitz, and sister in law, Barbara Rainwater.
The family will greet friends Thursday, November 17th, at the funeral home from 6 – 7:30 pm.
Friends and family ask that you remember Pamela as a strong woman and a fighter and suggest memorials to the American Cancer Society, Douglas County Visiting Nurses or Willow Domestic Violence Center, sent in care of the funeral home.
Sheila, Shelly, Lisa, & Robyn, I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your mom and step-mom. She was a kind lady and loved you girls so much. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Pam’s family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hadn’t talked to Pam for a while, but when I did, it was as if years had not passed by at all. We ran around together during the 60’s and got into a lot of trouble with our parents. I will miss her dearly.
I am so sorry about Pam,I lost contact along time ago,We walked to school togather and were friends. We both attended New York School.
