Messages & Condolences

From Frank Schawaller, Buckingham, VA...

I can honestly say that Mark was my favorite customer at Starbucks. Mark and Nora came in regularly – chai tea latte and oatmeal raisin cookie. I’ll miss Mark’s wit, warmth, humor and that ever-present twinkle in his eye. I felt honored and privileged to get invited to The American Legion to hear Mark, Nora and the rest of the Junkyard Jazz Band play. It was a very special evening. Mark even thanked me for coming that night from the microphone, for ALL to hear. It was as if he was introducing me to his musical family, as well as to his daughter – who was there that evening. Condolences to you, Nora, and to all who are grieving the loss of Mark from their day-to-day life. Safe Journey, Mark. Safe Journey, my friend.

Mark was truly a kind and gentle man; and a wonderfully talented musician. Playing with him and Nora in the Junkyard Jazz Band has been without question one of the greatest joys of my life. I miss him and send my deepest, most heartfelt condolences to Nora and family.

From Nyle and Sharon Wiggins...

We’re neighbors of Mark & Nora, but only for a year and a half. We have enjoyed their music and visiting at the clubhouse socials. Our sincere condolences to Nora and the family.

From Peter Kersten...

Mark and I started playing Dixieland Jazz together in 1967. His joy and dedication to his music inspired all who knew him.
