Nicole’s Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Sunday September 3rd from 1 pm to 3pm at Centennial Park East Shelter, 2124 W 9th Street, Lawrence. Everyone who loved Nicole is welcome.
Nicole Star Fisher, 38, of Lawrence was taken from us through an act of violence in Topeka on March 12th, 2017. Nicole was born August 28th, 1978 to Karen Fisher and Steve Swaggerty. She is survived by her mother Karen Fisher her Father Steve (Charlotte) Swaggerty; three children Brian Jacob Fisher, Savannah Elizabeth Johnson, and Ruby Anna-Leigh Klindt; sister Brandi (Kevin) Woodson, niece Jazmyne, nephew Aeron; brother Phillip Swaggerty, nieces Parker and Fiona; brother Brandon (Emily) Swaggerty, niece Ireland, nephew Braden; sister Ashlei (Chris) Babcock, niece Gretchen, nephews Sander, Reese, and Terk; Grandmothers Nancy Fisher and Belva Swaggerty, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nicole was a free spirit who lived her life to the fullest. Her star shined so bright that it burned out way too soon. She struggled with many demons but they didn’t stop her from being a loving, giving, soul. She loved her children, family, and friends and would give them the shirt off her back. She touched many lives. She will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of being touched by her light, especially her closest cousins Mitch, Michael, Amy and Lisa and longtime friend Sarah.
She attended schools in Baldwin City, Lawrence, and Eudora. She also attended Johnson County Community College.
In her youth she attended Coal Creek Gospel Hall and Church of Christ in Baldwin as well as First Church of the Nazarene in Lawrence
She was preceded in death by both Grandfathers: Philip Swaggerty and Ralph Fisher; Aunt Lori Welborn; Uncle Bob Fisher; Cousin Kris McDonald; and Step Father Mark Kemberling.
In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Nicole Fisher Memorial Fund in care of Rumsey Yost Funeral Home.

To all of Nicole’s family, I send my condolences to you. It has been years since I have spent time with with Nicole, but she was a good friend!
To the Fisher Family, deepest sympathy to your family for your recent loss. The Bible indicates that God can help us to endure any challenge we may face (1 Corinthians 1:9). Oftentimes he may use family or friends who share the same pain to assist us. May you draw a measure of comfort from your loved ones and your Creator during this time (1Corinthians 1:3).
Our love and prayers are going out to all of Nichole’s family. We are so so sorry for your loss. She was so young. So hard to know she’s gone. Let us know how we can help.
My heart is overwhelmed with the grief that I know each family member is dealing with today. My prayers and condolences go out to each one of you. Prayers for Ruby, the spice of Nicole’s life. Nicole and Ruby touched my life in a very special way, and shall always be remembered in each passing day.
If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
