Eve Lynn Elliott-Schmidt

Eve Lynn Elliott-Schmidt, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on Thursday the 7th of September in her home at 54 years of age. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 5 pm on Tuesday the 12th of September at Rumsey and Yost funeral home 601 Indiana Street in Lawrence, KS, 66044.

Eve Elliott-Schmidt spent her life giving care to friends, family, and strangers. She leaves behind many friends and a large family. Specifically, she is in the hearts of her four children: Mallory Harlan, child-wrangler and farmer, Matt Schmidt, hard-working father of 4, Ryan Schmidt, student of digital forensics and devoted son, and Bethany Schmidt, student of literature and composition. She also leaves a cherished canine companion, Roxy, a very loved grand-puppy, Remi, and a ludicrous number of grandkids.

For years, Eve worked as an x-ray technician with Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. Outside of helping others heal and doing her best to touch all the lives she encountered positively, she spent her time looking after her children, both of the two-legged and four-legged variety.

There was never a person more kind, nor more prone to selecting black cherry flavored delicacies. She will be missed. All those who remember her fondly are welcome to pay their respects with family and friends come Tuesday evening.

Messages & Condolences

From Tanya Lawson...

My condolences. I was searching the Unruh name, as at least 3 Unruh women helped stitch a quilt with my grandma and greatgrandmas circa 1934. I came across Eve’s obit, and realized our ancestors probably stitched this quilt together. My grandma Ida was born in Elmsdale, Chase Co. My mother grew up in Larned. So, I just wanted to say hello, to the offspring of Debra and Donald Rae. Hope this is you.
I will be visiting Cottonwood Falls and Larned in October for the first time since 1970. Again, very sorry for your loss.

Hello, I was one of Eve’s visiting nurses for over a year. I got to know her and Roxy well. She was always grateful for the help and delightful to visit with. My prayers go out to Ryan and family. May God bless you and keep you.

From Carla Harlan...

To the family of Eve: I met Eve on several occasions, namely the times she and Gus would bring Matt and Mallory to the Memorial weekend campouts – to bring them back to be with the old “Chase County gang”. She had Ryan as a toddler and pregnant with Bethany on one of the last campouts. She was always so friendly and could visit for hours. I always enjoyed her conversation. She also took in my teenaged son once when he thought mom and dad were no fun anymore and wanted “to be on his own”. We appreciated that he had a safe place until we could get there to pick him up.
Dear Bethany – you have a beautiful smile like your momma. Keep the beauty within that you inherited from your mom. Lots of love and peace to all of Eves family.

So sorry to hear of Eve’s passing. She was a High School friend of my brother Sean’s. I remember her kindness and humor and who could forget her yellow camero. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and this time.
