Services for Phyllis Arlene Lady Langhofer, 92, Overland Park, Ks. will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Abilene, Kansas.
A Visitation will take place Thursday September 14, 2017, at Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel 13720 Roe Ave. Leawood, KS 66224.
Phyllis died on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Vintage Park of Stanley in Overland Park.
She was born September 27, 1924 near Talmage, Ks. on a farm north of Abilene, the third of five children born to George Luther and Mildred Kirkdorffer Lady. After graduating high school she enrolled in a teacher certification program for one year, after which she began teaching in one-room country schools.
She married Joe Langhofer and moved to Lawrence, Ks. They divorced after 27 years. To them were born two sons, Steven Joe, and Thomas Wendell. In addition to homemaking, Phyllis worked in banking opening new accounts and as a teller.
Survivors include her sons, Steve (Karen Anderson) of Lenexa, Ks, and Tom (Marcy) of Overland Park; one brother, Wendell (Mary Jean) Lady of Overland Park; one sister, Evelyn (John) Biegert of Chicago; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
