
Gary L. Headley, 60, of Lawrence, KS, passed away Oct. 15, 2017, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Gary was temporarily living in St. Louis as the recipient of a double lung transplant on July 25, 2107, due to a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born to Doyle and Marilyn Headley in Lawrence on Dec. 26, 1956. He was a life long resident of Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1975. He started working for Curtis 1000 during his senior year. After 22 years, Curtis 1000 closed their Lawrence location. Gary went to work for Schlumberger for the next 17 years until medically retiring in 2014. He made life long friends wherever he went. Friends and family were always important.
Gary enjoyed spending time on the farm in Cuba, KS, where he would ride ATVs, enjoyed hunting and building fence.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Doyle Headley. He is survived by his mom, Marilyn Headley, Lawrence, brothers Larry (Kathy), their kids Brandon Headley (Emily), Bryan Headley (Jessica), Oklahoma City, OK, Terry (Lois) their kids Leslie Headley, Michael Headley (Hebah), Kansas City, MO., best friend and brother Barry, Overland Park, KS, sister Sherry (Bob) Wesner, El Reno, OK, and one very special great niece Tinsley.
Funeral services will be at 11 am, Friday, October 20, 2017, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.

It is so hard to believe that Gary has passed, we worked with Gary at Curtis 1000 for many years. He was always a happy go lucky guy, lot of fun to be around. He may be gone but never forgotten…
