
Bernice F. Kennedy, 93, died on January 14, 2018 to be with her true love of 65 years.
She was born November 25, 1924, in Lawrence, the daughter of Roy L and Faye Petefish Goff.
A lifetime resident, Bernice was very active in school activities as well as 4-H competitions. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School where she had met her future husband Bernard Kennedy Sr. They were married July 5, 1942, before he left to serve in World War II. Upon his return they spent many happy years together.
Always a hard worker and exceptional cook, her most valued treasure was her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In 2006 Bernice’s husband preceded her in death followed by her son Rory Kennedy Sr.
She is survived by daughter Carolyn Kirby (John), son Bernard Kennedy Jr. also brother George Goff, Sisters in law Jackie Kennedy and Gay Rofkahr. Bernice had ten grandchildren Lora, Stacey, Steven (Brandi), Chris (Deb), Andy (Ellie), Amy (Logan), and Kelli, Bryan, Rory Jr. (Sheera), Randa. Bernice also had nineteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
Private family services will take place at a later date.

I met this beautiful lady at her great great grandsons baby shower . It was a pleasure to talk with her and enjoyed every minute of our wonderful conversation. We were brought together by her great great grandson which happened to be my great grandson. She was a terrific person and will be missed by a lot of people.
Bernice was a wonderful woman and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. My condolences to the family.
