A visitation for Kathryn Irene Conrad “Katie”, 93, Lawrence, will be 5-7 pm, Monday February 5, 2018, at Rumsey – Yost Funeral Home. She died Monday, January 29th 2018, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab.
Kathryn was born on Feb 1, 1924 on the family farm in Perry, Illinois, the Daughter of Clifford and Edith Smith Bergman , she Graduated from Perry High School.
Katie worked for Modern gas and had her own Beauty shop, “The Hair Do”. She was also a Housemother for Alpha Chi Omega in Baldwin. She enjoyed sewing and anything KU.
She married William Ross Conrad in 1944 in Illinois. He was born May 25, 1925 and preceded her in death in June of 1964.
Survivors include her sons William Ross Conrad II , Brett Conrad and Brian Conrad along with 8 Grand Children and 7 Great Grand Children.
Memorial contributions can be made to Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab, sent to Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home , 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence , KS 66044.
My heart is sad for the loss of Aunt Katie. She was the best! A great friend and sister to my mom and she so loved her boys! I will miss our phone visits.
I loved Katie for many years. She was my very best friend. We shared everything from stories of our past, things going on in our current lives, hopes and dreams for our children and grandchildren, Kansas University basketball and so much more! Heaven is receiving one of the greatest ladies I ever knew. God speed Katie. I miss you already!
My memories of Aunt Kate was she was cool which is why I know her and Grammy got along so well cause they were the coolest and so classy they always had style…..I just know along with your father, that Grammy and Aunt Bette are all having a party there all together again….I am sure lots of catching up is going on…..I will miss her very much and am honored that she was in my life….My prayers go out to you all she truly was an original….❤

I loved how her smile radiated when she told the story of bringing the cows home with her trombone! I loved talking with your Mom at BHRC. You were truly blessed to have such a hard working Mom. May you find peace and comfort over the coming days. So sorry for your loss.
Sending our condolences. We are so glad we had the opportunity to visit with Aunt Kate on way to Colorado. We had a lovely visit and she was in good Spirits. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
