My acquaintance and friendship with ” Dr. Janet” began through our connection with White Horse Equestrian Center. She took dressage lessons and enjoyed horseback riding for over 20 years. One of her favorite horses was a bay gelding named Kelly. She was so happy to buy her own horse, a bay Arabian mare named Turquoise Tu. She spent many relaxing hours with her beloved Turquoise.
She also enjoyed her Afghan hounds, the last of whom was Coumo, a beautiful blue boy.
Janet also shared her home with her cats.
Whenever I remember her, I can see her smile and sparkling eyes and hear her girlish giggle. She is missed. I imagine Janet and Turquoise cantering across the countryside and beside the lakes on the trail rides she always dreamed of sharing with her horse.
Dr.Sharistanian was a favorite instructor of mine at KU. I’ll always remember our Faulkner discussions. She was quite young but seemed like a seasoned veteran, a very skilled teacher. My condolences to her family.
Dr. Sharistanian was one of my favorite English teachers at KU in the late 80’s. She was so full of life and pep. She made the words in the books come alive and the 50 minutes in class three times a week fly by. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. May God bless her family and friends.
Dr. Sharistanian was a favorite professor of mine during the 1970s – undergrad and graduate. I used to run into her once in awhile, but it had been years since I had seen her. I was driving through Indian Hills the other day and wondered what had happened to her. I had heard she had left Lawrence. I am so sorry to learn of her passing. – my condolences to all.
My husband, Bill Eddy, is a resident at Monterey Village. Janet has been so nice to him and helped him a lot with many things. She was an important part of that community. She will be missed !
My deepest condolences to Janet’s family & friends. I’ve only known her a short time but I will miss her. She befriended my mother at Monterey Village & showed a lot of compassion.
