A private memorial service for Anna Marie Archer (also known as Ruth Fairburn), 86, Lawrence, will be Saturday, May 18 at Lawrence Free Methodist Church.
Mrs. Archer died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Bridgehaven Village in Lawrence.
She was born December 4, 1932, in Lima, OH, the daughter of Harry Fred and Gladys Marie Bowsher. She graduated from high school in Lima, Ohio, and attended St. Paul Bible College in Minneapolis, MN and Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.
Mrs. Archer worked in the restaurant industry most of her life. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and attending church. She was passionate about missions and volunteered with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
She married Robert Alan Fairburn Sr. in 1952. He died in 1977. She later married Theodore Eugene Archer in 2000. He preceded her in death in 2015.
Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Ott and husband Tom of Ellensburg, WA, Mary Fairburn and husband John Brothers of Lawrence, Carolyn Heacock and husband Doug of Lawrence; a sister, Mina Wisener of Sedalia, MO; a brother, Fred Bowsher of Evans, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sons, Robert Allen Fairburn Jr. and Daniel James Fairburn; and brothers, Norman Bowsher and Roger Bowsher.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Just Food – The Douglas County Food Bank.
