Sondra Lee “Soni” Harrison

Harrison, Sondra Lee “Soni”, 79, Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Lecompton, KS, was born June 3, 1940 to Philip Gordon Wizer, Sr. and Margaret Helen Madden Wizer in Topeka, Kansas.

In 1948, the family moved to the family homestead in Lecompton, Kansas where she attended elementary and high school until, in 1956, they moved to Shawnee Mission, Kansas where she graduated from high school in 1958.

She married John Henry Betsill, Jr. in Old Mission Methodist Church, Shawnee Mission, KS on January 14, 1961. They later divorced. On October 20, 1978, she married Francis Eugene “Frank” Harrison in Virginia. They enjoyed almost 27 years of marriage until his death September 3, 2005.

Soni loved having fun, travel, family get-togethers, playing cards and bowling. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. As a military wife, she made a home in many new locations in the United States and Germany.

For many years, she fought a battle with breast cancer and Lupus, working long, hard hours in spite of her health problems. Through it all, when asked, she would always say, “Oh, I’m fine!”.

Her parents and great grandson, Jess David Michael Arnold, predeceased. Soni is survived by her children, Elizabeth M. Betsill and John H. Betsill, III, granddaughter, Renee Sandy Dykes, great granddaughter, Rebecca Rose Renee Arnold, and two great grandsons: Trent David Dykes and Ryan William Dykes, all of Tucson. Az; brothers: Philip Gordon Wizer, Jr., California, Robert William Wizer, Sr., Georgia, and sister, Catherine Ann Farrell, Buckeye, AZ and two nieces and four nephews.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thur. June 13, Lecompton United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton, Kansas and Black Hills National Cemetery.
